A shopping page using WordPress plugin Easy Digital Downloads

You are wondering why a news website would need a shop page? Well, if you look at some of the top online magazine websites, they do have a page selling digital products: Smashing Magazine has a Shop selling their e-books, or Designmodo has Website UI Kits store.

This will likely to be a trend in the future. So, in our WordPress theme, we integrate a shop page using Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) plugin. Not fancy to have a shop, you can simply turn off this page in the back-end anytime you want.

EDD is one of the popular WordPress plugin, aiming to make selling digital products easily and completely through WordPress. The plugin supports various features like purchasing multiple downloads, many payment gateway support, payment history, sales chart and so on.

Shop Main Page

Single Shop Item

Besides, we also add some features exclusively for DW Argo:

This features will make things much easier and faster in creating a nice product gallery where each product contains many images.

2. Comment & Review Function for EDD

It is common to have comment and review on a single product page, however, EDD default does not support this feature yet. We make it happen in DW Argo.

3. Unlimited Product Attributes with our Product Metas feature in back-end

First time introducing in this theme, we use a feature called Product Metas to help you create unlimited number of product attributes you want to display. Quick and easy are what you will experience about this feature. In addition, we also support Font-Awesome 3 for the icons, more choice for you to customize the product attribute.

Back-End Settings

Front-end demonstration

The slideshow in a website plays an important part as it decides your website is attractive enough in viewers’ eyes or not. Now give your website slideshow the personal taste that you want.

In this theme DW Argo, Adding/Editing a slideshow becomes easier with improvement in the back-end functions: drag and drop images, section to edit image information like title, caption, description and redirect URL. Carousel Slide is applied for slideshows on Homepage, Main shop, Shop Category and Single Shop Item page.

    Another Pre-sales question. I just noticed on my cell phone that the menu system is a bit different. When I tap on "Article Example" or "Layouts", etc nothing happens. The text turns red as if it acknowledged I touched it, but nothing happens. I'm afraid that some of my visitors may not be intuitive enough to notice this, and then click on the really small arrows. When I implement this theme and specify my menu's. Will I have an option to allow visitors to touch a category on the mobile menu without having to touch the small arrow? Thx

    No way to reactive the theme, username & password. I have to move on and I choose to work on other template. I waited too long for your help. Don't care if you had problems with spam or whatever. Days and days I waited. You can't answer in a proper delay and fix bugs. As you can see, I waited 1 week to hear about my last demand. That's why, I want a refund. It's not I'm unhappy about the theme. I wanted to work with this one. It's just the theme doesn't work correctly. See discussion above. Main bugs concerning pagination and sidebar post on left.

    I want the metro grid to be displayed at the top of my home page, it is currently set to recent posts and not a static home page, is this right? Also I only have 2 articles currently on the site, will it only display the metro grid once there are a minimum of 6 articles on there for it to pull images from?

    If you want to display the metro grid on the home page, you can log in to Dashboard > Settings > Reading, then select the Metro Content in the Front page section: http://prntscr.com/4gl52g Note: firstly, you need to Add new page (e.g:Metro Content ) then select the Home layout1 in the Page Attributes on the right hand side. Also, you need to add more post. Hope this helps !

    This theme is great but it got a massive problem. It isn't optimized for adsense. Nowadays +70% of internet users are using mobile phones, the sidebar of the website where the ads are displayed (The most likely place in every website) disappears on mobile devices. On tablet devices it shows a great icon, the user must click on the gear icon to see the ads. We all know how hard it is such kind of conversions.

    Hello, I wanted to create a Child Theme to modify the loop css to resemble Medium's (e.g. http://cristiandima.com/) and the single post css to resemble this: http://www.industrialthemes.com/explicit/standard-post-with-billboard-layout/) Normally I wouldn't waste your time with this but I can't, for the life of me, find the theme's css. Style.css has only a couple of lines. Could you point me in the right direction so I can work on it? Thanks.

    No problem Ibatsz! You can feel free to ask me here. Since the CSS file of DW Argo was compressed and would be hard for editing, you’ll need to download the uncompressed version of the CSS file in the link here: http://goo.gl/UnYU65 Then, go to themes/dw-argo/css folder, and replace the template.css file in that folder with the new template.css file that you downloaded in the link above. After that, you can edit the template.css file for DW Argo theme. P.S: You can also add the custom CSS code or JS code directly into Dashboard / Appearances / Customize / Custom Code. Hope this helps!

    Hi David, Thanks for writing in! The Live Event page is only a sample post that can be created with a list of blockquotes as you can see in Typography page: http://demo.designwall.com/dw-argo/typography/ , so it doesn't connect with any channels.

    Hi there. Awesome theme. I however am experiencing a weird issue with the metro grid. The 500x500 images in the grid are not displaying right, meaning the thumbnails are not the right size, even though I did rebuild my thumbnail database after installing the theme. I also wondered how I can avoid duplicate posts between the metro grid and the post list below, meaning that I want the blog list below the slider to start with post #7. Your help is appreciated.

    Hi,

    I however am experiencing a weird issue with the metro grid. The 500×500 images in the grid are not displaying right, meaning the thumbnails are not the right size, even though I did rebuild my thumbnail database after installing the theme.
    To resolve this issue, you can follow the steps below: 1. Open up the functions.php file in themes/dw-argo folder, and add the following code to the bottom of the file:
    // crop thumbnail in metro area
    if ( function_exists( 'add_image_size' ) ) {
        add_image_size( 'metro-thumb', 500, 500, true ); //(cropped)
    }

    2. Open up the feature-metro-layout.php file in themes/dw-argo folder, find and replace the code below (around line 51):

    with this code:

    I also wondered how I can avoid duplicate posts between the metro grid and the post list below, meaning that I want the blog list below the slider to start with post #7.
    Currently there is no option to do this. That may need an extensive customization and we'll try to fix it on the next updated version of the theme, stay tuned. Let us know if you need anything else, my friend!

    Apologies for the delay in replying to you, to add featured images, you can go to Dashboard / Appearance / Editor, open the content-single.php file in DW Argo theme, and find this code (somewhere at top of the file):

    Then add the following code right under it: Also, you’ll need to add CSS code for the featured image section, so go to Dashboard / Appearance / Customize / Custom Code, and add this code below to Header script: Hope that helps!

    Hi, I bought your template and I have some questions for you. I asked them in the support, but my firsts topics were deleted and the seconds were not answered yet. So, I tried by email and I hope you'll come back to me with helps. Excuse my english, I'm French. The website : http://letorrefacteur.fr 1/ Exclude the 6 featured posts from the frontpage posts following I want to display specific articles in the Metro Wall. Don't know if it's possible? I hope so. If it's not possible, I'd like to not display the same articles as the articles following. In fact, I want to exclude the 6 featured posts from the frontpage posts following. 2/ The pagination is not working on the frontpage page (in the other page yes >> http://letorrefacteur.fr/author/jeanpaultarte/). The infinite scroll show and repeat the same articles over and over again despite having multiple other posts to display. Same thing about the "Reading Now" (called Au Menu in my website) 3/ 6 articles instead of 3 in the related posts In the single.php, I tried to change the number " 'posts_per_page'=>3 " to " 'posts_per_page'=>6 " and as you can see I've six articles, but the display is not working. The second lign of articles are push on the left. Thanks in advance for your help. b.

    Hi! You can add your CSS code to style.css file by going to Dashboard / Appearance / Editor. Also, there is the uncompressed version of the main CSS file in the link here: http://goo.gl/UnYU65 . You can download it then go to themes/dw-argo/assets/css folder and replace the template.css file with the new one. After that, you can edit the template.css file directly.
