Optimize your product page SEO, by fixing the 404 errors of the disabled products. We all have this problem, there are many products that are no longer for sale and when we disable the products, the search engines give 404 errors because the pages do not exist anymore. There are 301 alternatives that redirect to the parent category, but it’s confusing for the user and it does not retain 100% SEO juice. With this solution, you will be able to retain 100% or your page juice, redirect the user to the main category after a time of your choosing and best of all, the user will know exactly what is happening.
Install the module as any other Go to the module configuration page There are 2 sections: Settings Design 4. After the installation & configuration, disable all the products and check if everything is setup as you require.
Settings Tab “Enable Disabled Products Override” – If you wish to turn on this module, make sure this is set to YES. “Auto redirect” – If you wish to automatically redirect the user after a period of time, make sure this is set to YES. “Redirect time” – The redirect time, after which time to redirect the customer to the category page “Redirect message” – What message will the customer see until he is redirected “Message display” – How to display the message on the product page Floating Top – will display the message FIXED on the top of the page Floating Bottom – will display the message FIXED on the bottom of the page Popup & Overlay – will display an overlay over the whole website, with your message
Design Tab In the design tab you can configure colors, font-size, etc. Make sure you read the description of every field to make sure you understand
For the module to work, you must make sure that the ProductController init() function is not overwritten by another module, in the case that it is, you will get a installation error and you should contact your developer to manually make the merge between the two overrides, or you could just contact us Make sure that your shop allows overrides
Very good work!
Hi, I saw your module "Prestashop 404 Fix for disabled Products" I do have some questions: 1) Doesnt this module use 301 at all? 2) I do have some products that are 302s, just temporarily disabled. How will this module work with that and how will Google respond to that? 3) Do you have a screenshot or demo of the other style alternatives? 4) To be honest I was planning to buy this module https://addons.prestashop.com/en/url-redirects/21428-redirections-manager-manage-301-302-and-404-urls.html when I found yours. Are you planning to add features for categories, manufacturers, suppliers, cms as that module do have? Thanks in advance Jonas
How about the other questions? 2) I do have some products that are 302s, just temporarily disabled. How will this module work with that and how will Google respond to that? 3) Do you have a screenshot or demo of the other style alternatives? I do mean the floating top/bottom. I the video you only show the overlay. 4) To be honest I was planning to buy this module https://addons.prestashop.com/en/url-redirects/21428-redirections-manager-manage-301-302-and-404-urls.html when I found yours. Are you planning to add features for disabled/deleted categories, manufacturers, suppliers, cms as that module do have? Thanks again Jonas
Thank you razvypp for fast answer. Where do I find the backoffice? I would like to see the floating top/bottom choice instead of overlay. If I can change it in backoffice and try myself that is awesome. Ps. The screenshots show another module, not this one. Perhaps you can just upload new screenshots of this app where floating top/bottom is included? D.s Thanks Jonas
No, this is the module https://addons.prestashop.com/en/url-redirects/25838-seo-404-fix-for-products.html, i do not know why you think differently. Also, this is demo of the live page : http://addons.prestashop.com/demo/FO17826.html , please keep in mind that you can select for the floater to be displayed only bottom or top and not over the full screen. For backoffice demo presta16.graphicvision.ro User: [email protected] Pass: demodemo
Hi again, thank you. That answeed my questions. The screenshots here at Codecanyon are of another module. Thanks Jonas
Hi again, I have now bought you product. Looks nice but I do have one more question. If I do set at 301 on a product in backoffice and choose a related product, isnt it possible to redirect to that product instead of the main category? Thanks Jonas
Hmm, at the moment it's not, but thank you for the idea, we will keep it in mind for a future update !
Hello I habe buy your Modul but this dont work. What can i do? Greets Georg
What does not work?
Hello, The module can not be installed: The following module(s) were not installed properly: - advanceddisabledproducts : Unable to install override: The method init in the class ProductController is already overriden. Regards Roman Bendik
Hello, prestashop allows a function to be overwritten only once, so the first module that does that is allowed, the next one is not. So the problem is not the module buy the fact that you have another module that has overwritten that function and prestashop does not allow this module to work. In order to make it work, you must do this manually, if you do not know how to do this, private me FTP and backoffice credentials and i can do it for you.
Wonderful Job! Congratulations :)
Hi Razvypp i think i got the same problem as mentioned before i just bought the product but i get server error 500 for old links instead of redirect . Can you please contact me . Thanks
Hello, what exactly do you mean for old links? are those disabled products or deleted? what version of prestashop ?
Oh Stupid me i just saw that your product is not working for Prestaa1.7. They were disabled products . Can you refund it or do you plan to make it possible for 1.7 ?
We have a version for 1.7 but we had not added it yet, private message me and i will send it to you
