The Best Results

For the best results, it is recommended to use high resolution photos in the range of 1500px – 3500px. The optimal range is from 2000px – 3500px. The detail and clarity in the effects generated by the actions reduce the smaller your photo is.

Organised

After each action has finished playing, it creates a well organised layer structure. Each layer and folder are named appropriately and color coded to create a neat working environment for you. Not only is the layer structure organised, each action comes with a highly detailed video tutorial teaching you about how each layer affects the design and how you can make customisations to it. Here is my YouTube channel.

Hey! Please ensure you have loaded the action brushes and your brush opacity is set to 100% before running the action. If your brush opacity is set too low you will get a 'Make' error. The 'Select' error can occur when Photoshop is attempting to 'Select' a brush that it cannot find in your brushes panel. These errors can also occur if you have corrupted preference files. The fastest way for me to help is if you can firstly have a read over the help page here and then continue to email me if you are still stuck. My email address is on the help page. Thanks

Hi, thanks for the amazing water colour action. I love it but would like to be able to modify the reveal normal photo layer but it doesn't seem to want to work. I can see that it shows on the box to the left but not on the black box on the right like the video tutorial.

Hello I watched your water colour tutorial video and was excited to buy it. Now action does not work as it was shown in the video. I am using Photoshop CS6 and used the action that is inside the folder of "CS6". When I hit the action button every step it is saying for example "Command Smooth is not available so on so forth. I am not getting the result as explained in the video. Can you please let me know why it is happening and how to get rid of these kind of stops. Thanks Regards Gurdeep

Tried to email you last month a couple of times but didn't get a response. Allow me to pose that question and a new one. The new one: I'm getting stuck on "stroke work path" and have taken the steps I've found on this comment list to fix it without luck. Any other ideas? I'm on the latest CC. The old one: Is there a way to scale up the brush strokes or whatever on many of your actions, for images larger than your recommended 3500 px? They're hard to see on very large camera photos.

Hey, Prior to CC 2017, Photoshop has a brush cut off size of 2500px. So there is no way that I am aware of to scale up the brush strokes. Its why I recommend that 2000 - 4000px image size for Actions. I also recommend that size as Action playback can take considerably longer on very large images. Now the limitation on brush size has been removed on CC 2017, I can add in an option for extremely large photos where it uses brushes double the size. Have you been emailing me via the address on the help page here? This is where I assist people experiencing issues with the Actions. It could be a file setup issue thats causing the stroke work path or something else. If you like, you can email me your PSD file (just with your photo and 'brush' layer created) and I can run the Action to see what happens. From there I can recommend steps to fix it for you. Thanks

It seems I missed the stuff below the 'show more' link and used the contact form on your profile instead. In any case, I managed to get past the error, though I can't recall what I did. As for the brush size, were you using brushes that big on images only a bit larger than that? I'm surprised. But I think it would be cool if effects could be scaled according to the desire of the one running it - not necessarily automatically. I know an author of one of the other actions I've purchased incorporates dialog boxes into his. Not sure if you can get user input from them or not. He is using them instead of a readme.

Hey - Hopefully Photoshop incorporates functionality where the brushes can be scaled during Action playback - that would be cool. Action results will always looks the best on higher resolution photos (2000px +), so I aim to only use high resolution brushes to accommodate that. I avoid using dialog boxes if I feel it is unnecessary. The setup procedure with all of my Actions is the same, so I only incorporate dialog boxes if the user has to make changes to a setting during Action playback. It just becomes a bit painful having to hit 'OK' on dialog boxes when you already know how to use the Action. I also create in-depth video tutorials with each Action explaining the file setup and how to use the layers after the Action has finished playing back. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi. I use Photoshop CC2017.0.1 I've done everything in the tutorial. Also use the watercolor brushes. But Every time I try to use this action it tells me the select command is unavailable. Then i use Continue, the warning comes again. I try again Continue, the "soft edges" command is not currently available. Continue. The "round off" command is not currently available. Continue. And then it goes with the follow-up commands always so further. In the download data was no folder "CC2017.0.1 +" as described on the help page. Please help me. Thanks!!!

Hey! If there is no 'CC 2017' folder included in the download, then there was no need to create a specific Action version for that version of Photoshop. In that case, you just use the next lowest Photoshop version down which is the 'CC+' folder. The 'Select' error can be caused by numerous things.I have listed all of the common solutions to that error on the help page here which you may want to take a look at. You can also email me so I can send you a test file to run. Running the test file just quickly helps me identify if its an issue with your file setup or if you have preference files which are not working correctly. Thanks

When I run it, in step 2 the dialogue panel just says "The command “Select” is not currently available." I can see that it stops when trying to select 'Background'. The problem is, the action changes the name of my background layer to 'Layer 0', so of course can't find. Any thoughts?

Hey! There are a few quick things you can do here to enhance that. Since its a close-up shot, try brushing white into the mask of the 'Reveal Normal Photo (Brush Mask)' layer. This will reveal more of the original look of your photo and remove any watercolour that you do not want. You might only want a hint of watercolour texture over the subjects face, so this is a great way to control that. Next, try adjusting the overall brightness using the 'Contrast / Brightness Adjustment' layer. Going down the layer order and experimenting with the layers is a great way to adjust your result. Please email me though in regards to the ModernArt Action if you like. My email address is on the help page here. Scroll down the page and click 'Show More', from there you will see my email address in the large bold text. Thanks

Greetings, Is there any way to run the action without hitting "okay"after each process? It's quite annoying. I presumed that I could press okay once and let the action run, but it's rather tedious to sit there and hit "okay" so many times. So far, I haven't had any good results. It all looks abstract & unintelligible, but I'm going to stay at it… -thanks

Hey - Since a lot of the layers in the effect use blending modes, it needs a background layer for those particular layers to appear correctly. So when you start hiding the 'Base Color' layer and 'Background' layer, you will notice some of the effects do not appear correctly. The best way to work with the file is to use the document that you have run the action with. So if you need to add text or crop/expand your document, its best to just do that in the file that has been created by the action. One other thing you can experiment with is this: 1) Hide the 'Background' layer 2) Brush black onto the 'Watercolor' folder mask. This way you can brush away any background detail you do not want, and it will then appear on a transparent background. Thanks

I just bought this yesterday and when I run the action, Photoshop CC 2015, it gives me these awful contour lines all over the photo, and I don't know how to eliminate them. They come from the pen layers, I get these black lines all over and it really looks awful. I don't get anything like you post. I would really appreciate any help on this. Thanks.

Hey - This sounds as though it could be an issue with your preference files not functioning correctly. If you could please send me an email so I can send you a test file to run. This test file will help me identify if it's an issue with your file setup, if you are using the wrong Action version or if you possibly have corrupted user preference files which need to be reset. If you can please indicate in your email what Action you are using and which version of Photoshop. My email address is on the help page here. Thanks

Like several other buyers in this forum I keep getting errors during the running of the action, (warning: no pixels selected.) (the command "Make" is not currently available.) (Could not complete the command because the active layer is empty) (The command "Select" is not currently available.) (The command "Delete is not currently available.) ...and that's just on one pass, then at the end the final output looks all grey and washed out, no where near what it looks like in your video tut. "Help me Obi-wan you're my only hope..."

Hey! Becuase there are a few steps required to set up the file i.e. loading the brushes, making sure the brush opacity is at 100%, ensuring your file size is not too small or too large, checking that you have created your 'brush' layer on a transparent background - it is easy to generate errors if your file is not setup correctly. The steps are all demonstrated in the tutorial - link in the readme file. Errors can also generate if your preference files suddenly stop working, which is a Photoshop bug that has been around for a long time. So I can definitely help figure out what is either not setup correctly for you or if your preference files have stopped working. My email address is on the help page here. Scroll down the page and click 'Show More', from there you will see my email address in the large bold text. Thanks

I'm having problems with three of your products.. same thing on all..and I've followed directions.. is it because I'm using Photoshop Elements 15? I keep getting various errors about not being able to do certain steps. Never finishes an action completely. Do these not work with Elements? I don't want to waste more time trying to get them to work if they never will.

Hey - Yes, unfortunately, the Actions are only created to work on Photoshop CS3 and above. There is lots of functionality missing in Elements which is needed for the Actions to work correctly. You may need to contact Envato support requesting a refund and just state that you missed the software requirements. Thanks

Just purchased this today, loaded all the brushes, and the action, checked to be certain I was running CS6 in english, mode is RGB 8 bit, image size 300ppi at 3500px high (portrait), entered "brush" in layer, highlighted areas I want to have run, selected "watercolor" from the action list hit run. It keeps getting hung up in a sub layer labeled invert. I have reinstalled the action preset and the brushes, ran this 3 more times with different images each time, same thing happens. lots of windows popping up, select "ok" and "continue". I am running CS6 on MAC high sierra. Please reach out with email address to trouble shoot. thanks!
